Introduction

Situated in the Karakoram Range in northeastern Pakistan, Broad Mountain is a famous 8,000-meter mountain that rises to an incredible 8,051 meters (approximately 26,414 feet). Being the 12th highest peak in the world, it offers mountaineers an incredible challenge.

Broad Peak is elegantly situated between the famous K2 and Gasherbrum IV on the western face of the Baltoro Glacier in the Karakoram. An important turning point in the history of Pakistan's mountains was reached in 1957 when a committed Austrian expedition successfully completed the first ascent of the challenging Karakoram peak.

Of the 8,000-meter peaks, Broad Peak is surprisingly the easiest to climb. It is frequently seen as an excellent option for climbers who wish to improve their abilities even if it is over 8,000 meters. Before trying the challenging K2, the second-highest mountain in the world, many foreign climbers choose to do Broad Peak as a practice run. The K2 base camp is within a 90-minute drive from the Broad Peak base camp, which facilitates this decision.
